卡特彼勒柴油機(jī)后面上有兩個增壓器，增壓器透平與排氣支管相連接，增壓器壓氣機(jī)與中冷器連接。

卡特彼勒CAT柴油發(fā)動機(jī)壓氣機(jī)葉輪(４)的轉(zhuǎn)動，吸入新鮮空氣濾清器到壓氣機(jī)殼體空氣進(jìn)口(10)，壓氣機(jī)葉輪片壓縮進(jìn)入空氣，因?yàn)閴嚎s空氣可以使卡特彼勒柴油機(jī)燃燒更多的燃油，發(fā)出較大效率，因而卡特彼勒柴油機(jī)的功率增加。

如果高的空載轉(zhuǎn)速或噴油量大于給定噴油量(相對于卡特彼勒柴油機(jī)工作在某一海拔高度)，可能損壞卡特彼勒柴油機(jī)或增壓器零件，由于卡特彼勒柴油機(jī)輸出更高，超過了卡特彼勒柴油機(jī)冷卻和潤滑系統(tǒng)能力，當(dāng)熱量和／或摩擦增加時將發(fā)生破壞。試驗(yàn)適合的機(jī)器是唯一的，就是進(jìn)行燃油里和高的空載轉(zhuǎn)速的調(diào)整。
